I stumbled across something today that really fucking disgusts me. Let me introduce you to a little website, Christopedia, which deems itself “the Christian encyclopedia the Saved can edit!” It all started with a post I read on the most disgustingly ignorant conservative blog ever, this one. Turns out his post on Barack Obama was copied verbatim from Christopedia. Curiosity often kills the cat, and after reading some of this drivel I know why. I’m so angry I’m surprised my head hasn’t exploded.
Take for example a sampling from the entry on “Negroids:”
The Negro is known to have a broad, flat nose, as wide as a gorilla, thick protruding lips, tightly coiled “nappy” hair and exceptionally dark colored skin. In experiments in which Black children have been left to themselves with White and Black dolls, it has been found that most of them would rather play with White dolls. This is true all over the world, even in such places as Trinidad and Tobago. Almost all promoted examples of Negroid beauty – such as Beyonce Knowles, Tyra Banks and Halle Berry are those of the Negroid-American phenotype; ie, with a considerable infusion of White racial inheritance.
I don’t even know where to start with that. One would think that this could be some type of horribly perverse joke, but after reading more of the site, I don’t think so. Another example is from the entry on Affirmative Action:
Affirmative action is political correctness in the form of institutionalized racism directed towards the white race. Created by liberals, affirmative action punishes Whites for alleged injustices Negroes supposedly suffered during slavery by giving unfair advantages to minorities under the guise of “equality”, “diversity” and “leveling the playing field.”
This is exactly the same type of nonsense I’ve seen spewed out on numerous conservative blogs, usually accompanied by some crap about how they “AREN’T GOING TO FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING WHITE!” which is, in my opinion, only a few short steps from donning a white mask and robe and shouting “WHITE POWER!” It’s not-so-thinly-veiled racism. I started dissecting the “article” on Obama but stopped. First, there are so many errors it would take most of the day, and second, to discredit the article all I really felt it was necessary to do is discredit its source. As you can see, using it’s own words was the easiest way to go about that.
Sites like Christopedia make me feel ashamed of being Catholic. I only hope that the supposed “Saved” who believe and spread these lies end up reaping what they’ve sown in the afterlife. You see, if Heaven is a place populated with these people, I’m pretty sure God himself wouldn’t want to be there… and what would it be then?
Righteously yours,
Project Openletter
