Archive for ignorance

Dear Readers,

I stumbled across something today that really fucking disgusts me.  Let me introduce you to a little website, Christopedia, which deems itself “the Christian encyclopedia the Saved can edit!”  It all started with a post I read on the most disgustingly ignorant conservative blog ever, this one.  Turns out his post on Barack Obama was copied verbatim from Christopedia.  Curiosity often kills the cat, and after reading some of this drivel I know why.  I’m so angry I’m surprised my head hasn’t exploded.

Take for example a sampling from the entry on “Negroids:”

The Negro is known to have a broad, flat nose, as wide as a gorilla, thick protruding lips, tightly coiled “nappy” hair and exceptionally dark colored skin. In experiments in which Black children have been left to themselves with White and Black dolls, it has been found that most of them would rather play with White dolls. This is true all over the world, even in such places as Trinidad and Tobago. Almost all promoted examples of Negroid beauty – such as Beyonce Knowles, Tyra Banks and Halle Berry are those of the Negroid-American phenotype; ie, with a considerable infusion of White racial inheritance.

I don’t even know where to start with that.  One would think that this could be some type of horribly perverse joke, but after reading more of the site, I don’t think so.  Another example is from the entry on Affirmative Action:

Affirmative action is political correctness in the form of institutionalized racism directed towards the white race. Created by liberals, affirmative action punishes Whites for alleged injustices Negroes supposedly suffered during slavery by giving unfair advantages to minorities under the guise of “equality”, “diversity” and “leveling the playing field.”

This is exactly the same type of nonsense I’ve seen spewed out on numerous conservative blogs, usually accompanied by some crap about how they “AREN’T GOING TO FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING WHITE!” which is, in my opinion, only a few short steps from donning a white mask and robe and shouting “WHITE POWER!”  It’s not-so-thinly-veiled racism.  I started dissecting the “article” on Obama but stopped.  First, there are so many errors it would take most of the day, and second, to discredit the article all I really felt it was necessary to do is discredit its source.  As you can see, using it’s own words was the easiest way to go about that.

Sites like Christopedia make me feel ashamed of being Catholic.  I only hope that the supposed “Saved” who believe and spread these lies end up reaping what they’ve sown in the afterlife.  You see, if Heaven is a place populated with these people, I’m pretty sure God himself wouldn’t want to be there… and what would it be then?

Righteously yours,

Dear Ignorant Christian,

I stumbled on your blog today from the wordpress main page.  I have to say, you live up to your name.  Your post was the most ignorant drivel I thought I’d ever read, that is until I read your “About” page.

For those who don’t wish to wander over, here’s the first paragraph:

I’m not really sure what to write here. My name is Frank, and I’m a Christian if anybody can’t tell. I’m a Christian in America, which isn’t a good thing to be. Society treats us the way blacks were treated in the 1800s. Christians are the only people in America who are ok to descriminate against.

A few things Frank.  First, it’s discriminate, not “descriminate.”  Second, are you made to work in a cotton field?  Owned by anyone?  Not allowed to marry/procreate?  Whipped for “misbehavior?”  Didn’t think so.  I get the feeling you’re a middle aged white male likely living in Middle America.  Am I correct?  You are not a slave.  Comparing yourself to a slave is not only ignorant; it’s disrespectful and shows that you don’t really understand the meaning of the word “empathy.”  Empathy is something that every Christian should embrace Frank.  I’m pretty sure God approves of that principle.

I just may read your blog all day.  Thank you for the free entertainment.  Only a real comedic genius could come up with something this stupid:

There’s JD Rawling the guy who wrote Harry Potter which druggies love and say Harry Pothead. It’s a movie about magic witch is insulting to Christianity. The idea that wizards and dragons can make books fly is trying to diminish the power of God’s miracles and the Gospel. It’s also part of the gay agenda.

Please allow me to correct a few errors:  1)  JK Rowling (a Christian!), 2) She’s a woman (and a Christian!), 3) Druggies love?  There are no drugs taken for recreation in the books, 4) Wizards and dragons are make believe.  God wouldn’t have granted us imagination if he didn’t want us to use it, and 5) There is no sexual activity relayed in the books with the exception of a few (heterosexual) kisses.

Frank, I feel sorry for you.  Your blog does nothing but highlight your ignorance and show your resentment of liberals, non-Christians, atheists and those otherwise unlike yourself.  Is that really the way to heaven?  Should we not leave the judgment to our creator?  If you don’t get where I’m going, I’ll put it in plain language.  This “liberal Christian” is telling you to kiss her ass.

God help us all,
